Farming currency in Path of Exile 3.29 does not require expensive scarabs or complex setups. This zero-investment strategy focuses on running Mesa maps with Searing Exarch altars, mercenaries, and shrines while collecting charts for later voyage runs. The core profit comes from sulfur gathered during voyages, which sells for a high price. In a two-to-three-hour session, this strategy generated 16 divines worth of loot with POE currency no scarab investment. If your build can complete a tier 16 map, you can run this strategy easily.

The Core Strategy
What We Are Running
The strategy combines several mechanics that work well together without requiring scarabs:
Searing Exarch altars - Provides chaos orbs, regret orbs, and bubblegum currency that sells easily early in the league
Mercenaries - Provides a wide range of loot including currency items, amulets, weapons, and shields
Shrines - Provide clear speed boosts (accelerating, echo, crit, AoE) to speed up map clearing
Nico - Provides pure damage and speed bonuses
Why Mesa
Mesa is the ideal map for this strategy because:
You can kill the map boss quickly, eliminating boss-related altars
The layout is simple and fast to clear
Maps can be completed in under 2 minutes with a decent build
How to Run the Maps
Step-by-Step Process
1. Select Mesa map - No scarabs required, just roll for a 24-26% pack size
2. Trigger Searing Exarch influence - This enables altar spawns
3. Rush to the map boss - Kill the boss first to eliminate boss-related altars
4. Complete the rest of the map - Clear the Allflame mechanic, check mercenary inventory, and collect their currency stash
Each map takes less than 2 minutes with a fast build. Over a 30-map session, you will collect a significant number of charts for later voyages.
Atlas Passive Tree
Key Nodes
The Atlas tree focuses on:
Mercenary nodes - Essential for this strategy. Take the chance for mercenaries to spawn and related nodes.
Searing Exarch nodes - Take Wrath of the Cosmos for additional downside and upside on altars
Map-related nodes - Pack size, explicit map modifiers, and extra map drops
Nico nodes - Packed with Energy and other good nodes for speed and damage
Node Choices Explained
I am not taking the nodes that increase the chance for mercenaries to become rangers. While rangers can become Kineticists or many-shot mercs that sell for decent currency, I did not encounter a single useful one. This part is very gamble-heavy, so do not expect too much from it.
The intelligence and strength requirement nodes are taken because many-shot mercenaries are dexterity-based characters.
I also boosted memory tier chances, though the results were not insane. This is just a little extra on top of the main strategy.
Rolling Your Maps
Map Modifiers
Roll for 24-26% pack size. Avoid break-modifiers like "No Regeneration" or other dangerous mods that could slow you down or kill you.
No Scarabs Required
This is a zero-investment strategy. You can add scarabs if you want, but the goal was to keep this as cheap and accessible as possible.
Scrying Opportunity
If you want to add a scry, the Fortunate card is good early on because it provides divine orbs. However, I did not want to complicate the strategy, so this remains optional.
Chart and Voyage Farming
Collecting Charts
While running maps, collect every chart that drops. Maps can contain two shards, so you can walk out with multiple charts per map. After 30 maps, you will have 30 to 40 charts or more ready for cheap POE currency voyage runs.
